Using Old Books As Decor:

I’ve got to begin looking for old books.

Did I tell you that when they closed the Tuesday Morning, they put a sign up saying the space would soon be the Salvation Army thrift shop? I can’t wait.

Thanksgiving is coming soon. Just imagine sitting at this table with family and friends. What a cozy setting.

Signs Of Autumn:

One of the most stunning signs of autumn is the turning of the leaves. The shorter days are a sign to trees to begin to prepare for winter.

During winter there is not enough light for photosynthesis to occur. So as the days shorten throughout autumn, the trees begin to close down their food production systems and reduce the amount of chlorophyll in their leaves. – The Met

Thankful for friends and family, says the tablecloth. Yes, we’re always thankful for those we love.

The Chemistry Of Color:

Chlorophyll is the chemical that makes tree leaves green and as it declines other chemicals become more prominent in the leaves.

These are responsible for the vibrant ambers, reds, and yellows of autumn. The chemicals responsible are types of flavonoids, carotenoids, and anthocyanins.

Why is it called fall versus autumn?

It turns out, it’s another one of those American versus British English phenomena. Americans may say “fall” because it’s simpler. But the Brits across the pond are loyal to “autumn” because it is more regal and Latin.

Longevity:

Did you know that people born in the fall season live longer?

A study in the Journal of Aging Research found that babies born during the autumn months are more likely to live to 100 than those born during the rest of the year.

Their study found that 30 % of US centenarians born during 1880-1895 were born in the autumn months. – Met Office

Animals gather food in autumn in preparation for the coming winter, and those with fur often grow thicker coats.

Many birds migrate toward the Equator to escape the falling temperatures.

A common autumn phenomenon in the central and eastern United States and in Europe is Indian summer, a period of unseasonably warm weather that sometimes occurs in late October or November.

I am writing a lot about fall because I want to enjoy every minute of it. And I hope you don’t mind my sharing the pretties I find with you.

It is my way of telling you that I am in a good place, despite the pain. I am finding joy every day in the little things.

And I hope some of what I have here brings you something to think about. A recipe, a decorative photo, a quote.

Fall to me is the coziest time of the year. Christmas is colorful and jolly and I love to decorate for the holiday.

Fall sends signals to the trees and nature. It is the ending and also the beginning; this season is called fall. I just want to curl up in a chair with a warm throw and a good book.

The garden gets tucked in for winter. Flowers fade and when the nights get colder, they turn brown and crinkle up like the tree leaves.

What Do Animals Do In The Fall?

In the fall, animals get ready for winter by eating extra food and storing it as body fat. Then they use this fat for energy while hibernating.

Some animals will also store food like nuts or acorns to eat later in the winter. Bears, skunks, chipmunks, and some bats hibernate.
